  Blackjack Strategy

One of the most useful strategies in blackjack is to select the right strategy card that is most suitable to the game rules. The cards are colour coded and are extremely easy to use. There are 6 different types of plays to choose from. The yare as follows:

H= Hit

S= Stand

D= Double down if allowed, otherwise Hit

Ds= Double down if allowed, otherwise stand

SP= Split if allowed, otherwise do as you would for card total

Su= Surrender if allowed, otherwise Hit

In order to lower the house advantage, mathematicians and statisticians developed a few theories. Actually, their interest in the game developed during the 1950s, the theories they developed during the initial stages were further developed during the 60s and the 70s with the technology coming in. The basic strategy is based on this statement analysis. A player has the choice to either double down or split when favourable and gets paid 3:2 for blackjack. A dealer though, doesn't have any such options and has to stick to rules and stand on 17 or above. Moreover, he cannot double down or split and is paid only 1:1 for blackjack.

There is a basic set of rules that apply to all blackjack games:

General
Always stand on 17 or better.
Always hit on 12-16 when dealer shows 7 or higher.
Always hit on 8 or less.

Doubling Down
Always double down on 11.
Double down on 10 when dealer shows 9 or lower.
Double down on 9 when dealer shows 6 or lower.

Soft Hands
Always stand on soft 19 and 20.
Always double down on soft 13-18 when dealer shows 4,5, or 6.

Splits
Always split aces and 8's.
Never split 10-face cards and never split 5's.
Always split 3's and 2's when the dealer shows 4,5,6, or 7.
